Description

Fudgy red velvet brownies made from scratch, featuring a soft and moist texture with rich chocolate flavor and a vibrant red hue. Perfect for Valentine’s Day or any festive occasion. Optional cream cheese frosting adds a sweet, tangy finish.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour (spooned & leveled)
  • 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/4 tsp sea salt
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 large eggs (room temperature)
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tbsp red gel food coloring
  • 1/2 cup milk chocolate chunks or chocolate chips
  • Optional Cream Cheese Frosting:
  • 1/2 cup cream cheese (block, room temperature)
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter (room temperature)
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • Pinch of sea salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line an 8×8 inch baking pan with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, mix melted butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until combined.
  3. Add eggs, vanilla extract, and red food coloring. Mix well.
  4. Sift in flour, cocoa powder, and salt. Fold with a spatula until smooth.
  5. Stir in chocolate chunks or chocolate chips.
  6. Pour batter into the prepared pan and bake for 25–30 minutes, or until edges are set and a toothpick comes out with moist crumbs.
  7. Let cool completely before slicing or frosting.
  8. Optional Frosting: In a bowl, beat softened cream cheese and butter until smooth. Add powdered sugar, vanilla, and salt. Beat until creamy and spread on cooled brownies.
