Description

This easy biscuits and gravy breakfast casserole features layers of fluffy biscuit dough, savory sausage, creamy gravy, eggs, and cheese—perfect for beginners and weekend brunch.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 (8-count) package of buttermilk biscuit dough
  • 6 eggs
  • 1 (2 3/4 ounce) package of peppered gravy mix (makes 2 cups)
  • 1 lb pork sausage, any flavor
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (Colby Jack or cheddar recommended)
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F and grease a 13×9 inch baking dish.
  2. Brown the sausage in a skillet over medium heat until fully cooked. Drain thoroughly.
  3. Cut biscuit dough into 1-inch pieces and layer them evenly across the bottom of the baking dish.
  4. Spread the cooked sausage evenly over the biscuit pieces.
  5. Sprinkle shredded cheese over the sausage layer.
  6. In a mixing bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, salt, and pepper. Pour the egg mixture over the layered ingredients in the baking dish.
  7. Prepare the gravy according to package instructions or make your own, then pour it evenly over the casserole.
  8. Bake for 35–45 minutes, or until the eggs are set and biscuits are golden and cooked through. Let cool for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

  • If baking straight from the fridge, increase cooking time by 15–20 minutes.
  • Cover with foil if the casserole browns too quickly before it’s fully cooked.
  • Gravy lovers can double the gravy or serve extra on the side.
  • You can use crescent rolls or toast cubes instead of biscuit dough.
  • Make sausage and gravy ahead to simplify morning prep.
